Danie has played a prominent role in Crawford's response to the 2010/2011 Canterbury earthquakes, providing technical expertise and guidance to others, while at the same time continuing to service a personal portfolio of large and complex losses for leading insurers. He has successfully settled several large, high profile losses arising from these events.

He is an Associate member of the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (ACLA), a Senior Associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, ANZIIF (Snr Assoc), a Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) and member of the New Zealand Insurance Law Association. He commenced his career as a Loss Adjuster with Crawford & Company in 1990 after completing the first stage NZCE (Civil Engineering).
